We recommend reading your Volkswagen owner's manual for recommended fuel information or reaching out to the team at Harte Volkswagen of Meriden. Volkswagen Fuel Intake Information
At Harte Volkswagen of Meriden, we often get asked about how to properly maintain VW cars and SUVs, including the question of "Should I use regular or premium gas for my VW?" While older Volkswagen Jetta cars and Atlas SUVs may advise to use premium fuel, the new VW model lineup now has recommendations for regular fuel. Visit our Volkswagen service center for more info or check out the chart below for the latest recommended VW gasoline information.

Premium Gas vs. Regular Gas
The main difference between both types of gasoline is that premium gas has a higher octane level than regular gas. What does the octane rating mean? It determines how likely it is for engine combustion to occur at the wrong time. If you do prefer to fill up your Volkswagen Tiguan or Passat with premium gas, there's nothing wrong with that either, although do note that premium fuel costs more. Whichever option you decide to go with, make sure that you're consistently using the same type of fuel to ensure that your vehicle runs smoothly.
